Current opportunities and challenges for UK Ports

Ahead of the UK Ports Conference on 5-8 July, run by Waterfront Conference Company, we hear from some of the speakers on what they will be discussing at the event.

The virtual UK Ports Conference is a complete update on the challenges and opportunities facing the ports sector. This year’s event covers important topics including the introduction of freeports, changing trade patterns, and improving air quality.

Jerry Hopkinson, Chief Operating Officer and Vice Chairman at PD Ports will be joining a panel discussion on the introduction of freeports and what their creation could mean for the sector.

Stephen Carr, Group Commercial Director at Peel Ports will be speaking on a panel exploring the real-world impact of trade and shipping changes in 2021.

Martin Lawlor, Chief Executive of Port of Blyth will consider the opportunities for ports in supporting offshore wind.

David Brown, Chief Executive Officer at Bristol Ports Company and Chair of Port Skills and Safety will provide an update on improving safety at ports and instilling a culture of safety.
