July highlights

After a busy July for all our teams across the agency, we’ve taken a few moments to sit back and reflect on the highlights. Here are some of our favourite moments.

Our events team delivered another two hugely successful conferences, Rules and Policy Conference, for Unite the Union in July. Having provided full-scale end-to-end event management for Unite for more than a decade, this video gives a snapshot of the work that went into planning, setting-up and delivering the events to hundreds of Unite members in Brighton.

Elli and Harvey from our digital team attended MadFest – the UK’s biggest marketing festival – and heard from speakers from big brands such as ASOS and TikTok.

In the run up to Wimbledon, our marketing and communications team helped amplify the story of Hoosen Bobat, a Black South African former tennis player, who was excluded from the 1971 Men’s Junior Wimbledon championship because of the colour of his skin.

Following an exclusive article in the Guardian, the team arranged interviews with the BBC World Service and Cape Talk for Hoosen and academic Saleem Badat, who recently published a book on tennis during the Apartheid regime, and secured fantastic coverage across dozens of titles online, including BBC online, Yahoo News and The South African.

Public Health In Wales

Our public sector and creative teams won a new project to produce a second animation for Public Health Wales. The animation will be used by the ‘Hapus’ programme, which aims to encourage the Welsh population to prioritise their mental wellbeing and take time to do the things that matter to them.

The first animation above, which was finalised this month, will be played in schools to raise awareness of the dangers of illegal tobacco and vapes:

Our new brand went live this month!

Make it Matter reflects everything we stand for at Freshwater – the clients we choose to work with, the causes we believe in and the way we value each other.

Our new brand was rolled out externally and we received some wonderful feedback from clients, partners and friends.

We also joined Instagram and Threads this month – give us a follow @freshwatercomms.

Our latest Make it Matter: Community charity initiative was a real success, with donation boxes in both our Cardiff and London offices filled with much needed items which have now been donated to the Trussell Trust Group.
