NASUWT Exhibition:

The annual exhibition of NASUWT, The Teachers’ Union, was held at the Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront. Freshwater delivered a two-day exhibition promoting mindfulness and a safe connection space for all in attendance. It was held as part of the NASUWT’s National Conference.

More than 1,000 delegates

25 exhibition stands

Brief

Freshwater was tasked with creating a welcoming and engaging space, where delegates could unwind, connect and recharge. The vision included a thoughtfully branded NASUWT stand that would serve as both a showcase for refreshed merchandise and a hub for relaxed ‘fireside’ talks with expert speakers.

Freshwater completely understood our vision and brought it to life in such a thoughtful and creative way. The exhibition space became a real highlight of the conference - delegates loved the wellbeing zones, our sessions in the tipi which included yoga and re-energiser sessions and the overall relaxed atmosphere.

Delivery

NASUWT organisers made it clear from our first meeting that a key priority was to create an environment where delegates would feel supported, valued and able to fully engage. Conferences can be busy and intense, so it’s important to provide spaces that promote wellbeing, connection and time to recharge.

In addition, the organisers wanted to ensure there was space for informal learning and networking, these elements were essential to the success of the exhibition. By offering these initiatives, we created a space for more open and meaningful conversations, collaboration and new ideas.

From concept to delivery, Freshwater led the full event management. We began with a dynamic 3D animated fly-through to illustrate the exhibition’s layout, and then brought it to life with a blend of creativity, functionality and flair.

A central wellbeing zone featured a tipi offering a rolling schedule of activities like disco yoga and stress-busting stretches.

The revamped NASUWT stand was a visual highlight.  Mannequins and striking display cases showcased new merchandise at the front of the stand, while the back offered an intimate setting for fireside-style discussions. Integrated Nook Pods, some of which were sensory, invited members to take a breather or have one-to-one meetings with our delegates.

Elsewhere in the space, the innovative ‘Soundbites’ stage allowed delegates to tune in via headphones, keeping sessions focused and the atmosphere serene. Chill-out areas included ‘recharge tables’ (for minds and devices alike), while a cosy library setting complete with soft seating, hydration station, games and colouring books offered a welcome escape.

Results

The exhibition was a standout feature of the conference, drawing strong attendance across all zones and leaving a lasting impression on attendees. Members fully embraced the thoughtfully designed spaces taking time to pause, recharge and connect in ways that supported both personal wellbeing and professional growth.

A particularly meaningful highlight was the collaboration with the Splashes of Hope team. Delegates were invited to contribute to large-scale canvases, turning moments of creativity into lasting acts of kindness. The completed murals will be donated to schools, extending the impact of the conference far beyond the venue walls. This initiative created a legacy of giving back to the community and our commitment to continue this year after year.
